We back you before it's obvious

We back technical, globally ambitious founders at the earliest stage, pre-seed to seed, with real conviction and a partner in your corner from day zero.

Emerging founders. Earned insight. Global ambition.

Scrappy, high-conviction founders, often in their first or second high-growth company, with an earned view on a problem and the ability to build quickly. We look for formidability before polish. Strong co-founder teams are our preference; we stay open to exceptional cases.

  • Earned insight

A non-obvious view that can only come from time in the problem.

  • Build capability

Technical, product or executional depth. You ship, fast.

  • Global lens

Building for the world from day one, not just your home market.

  • Speed & clarity

Bias to decide. High signal-per-word. Momentum over perfection.

  • Formidable teams

Strong co-founders. Complementary. Already working together.

Early cheques. Early stage.

  • StagePre-seed → Seed

First or second equity financing. Prototype through early-customer.

  • Pre-seed chequeA$200–500k

Typical first cheque. Flexible where it makes sense.

  • Seed chequeUp to A$1m

Where we lead or anchor the round.

  • Follow-onReserved

Pro-rata preserved into Seed and Series A rounds.

Three patterns. You know if you know.

You can arrive at formidability by different routes. These are the three we see most often — you might recognise yourself here.

The hungry builder

Young at heart, sense of urgency. Thinks everyone on Earth needs this.

The scientific operator

IP or novel tech that needs a market — and a founder who can take it there.

  • Researcher, scientist, technologist
  • Product-led, operationally involved
  • One of a few in the world who can build it

The domain native

Vertical experience, about to reinvent it. Experts disagree. They're right anyway.

We're not like most VC funds.

  • Pre-seed is all we do.We know this stage, and the zero-to-one go-to-market that comes with it, better than funds that treat it as a side-bucket. It's our whole focus, not a feeder for a bigger fund.

  • Prototype or early customer is typical. You don't need ARR to get our cheque. You do need a view and an ability to build.

  • Software and hardware. We back deeptech and physical products. Kite Magnetics and Andromeda are live proof.

  • Australia-first, globally-minded.Australia is home. We also back AU teams expanding into the US and keep an active San Francisco arm.

A reply in 48 hours, a decision within three weeks.

The pre-seed market runs on gatekeeping, warm intros and ghosting. That's the bar we're beating. However fast your round is moving, we can match the pace, and every founder gets real feedback either way.

  1. Day 0You send us a deckOr a Loom. Or a one-pager. Or a cold email with a working prototype. No warm intros.
  2. 48 hrsWe replyEvery pitch gets a response. If it's a no, we tell you why in plain English.
  3. Week 1Partner meetingOne of three partners. Not an associate. 45 minutes, Zoom or in person.
  4. Week 2We do the workCustomer calls, technical diligence, references. You meet the rest of the team.
  5. Week 3Term sheet or clear noStandard SAFE or priced round. Follow-on reserved for pro-rata.

What are you building?

Tell us in a sentence. We'll take it from there.

Operator-led support. Not a program.

After we invest, support is practical and high-touch, the kind of help operators run, not course content. Partner time, a working network, and the specific humans who've done the thing you're about to do.

  • Partner time

Regular working sessions with the partner on your deal. No associates between you and a decision.

  • Go-to-market

Sales motion, positioning, pricing, first 10 customers. The operator side, not the consultant side.

  • Recruiting

Our network of operators, coaches and domain experts, and real help hiring the first 10–20.

  • PR & narrative

Launch moments, story crafting, press access when it matters. We know what moves the needle in AU and SF.

  • Follow-on fundraising

Positioning for Seed and Series A, investor intros, deck and data room work when you're ready.

  • Community

Founder events, peer groups, SF office access, and a portfolio that actually helps each other.

Don't believe us? Ask our founders.

The working relationship in their words, not ours, from three founders we backed first.

  • James and Hugh are like founders, they want us to succeed as much as we do. They showed us this by backing us in our pre-seed round, helping us secure our seed round with Insight Partners, and supporting us all the way through to our Series B, led by Bessemer Venture Partners. We recommend Galileo to other world class AI founders.
    Relevance AIDaniel Vassilev, CEO
  • Galileo made all the difference for us. They are our first believers, and were invaluable during our seed raise with very real, roll-up-the-sleeves work. As founders, we're so glad to know that when you really need them, the Galileo team will absolutely be there with material help, great advice, introductions and more.
    Lumi InteractiveLauren Clinnick, Co-founder
  • The Galileo team has been with Kite since day one, advising and supporting us at every major milestone, connecting us with experts in recruitment, sales, and fundraising. Despite being 20x smaller than some of our other investors, they consistently provide more value and aren't afraid to spend time with us in the trenches when the going gets tough.

The things founders ask.

Can anyone apply?

No warm intro required. Apply directly via the form. We read everything and reply to everyone.

Can I apply more than once?

If the timing wasn't right last time, come back. Businesses change. So do we.

Do you tranche the investment?

No, not tranched milestones. If we believe, we write the cheque.

Do you only invest in Australia?

We can invest outside AU where it makes sense. Most of our founders have a strong AU tie.

Will you lead the round?

Often, or we'll be the anchor early investor. Then we help you run the next round.

What instruments do you use?

Standard SAFE or priced equity. We'll be pragmatic where the round shape calls for it.

So, what are you waiting for?

Pre-incorporation is not too early. Cold email is fine. No warm intro required. Start a conversation and hear back from a partner within a week, whatever the answer.
